Country reports - NGOs and the judiciary

1 May 2015. The international project, “NGOs and the Judiciary – watch dog activities, interactions, collaboration, communication”, that is led by INPRIS, combines both research and capacity building activities. The first stage is a preparation of country reports on the cooperation of NGOs and judiciary in countries involved. We’ve just finalized preparation of guidelines for country experts, so the final reports will have comparative character.

The primary objective of the project is experience sharing. Therefor the reports will consist of following information: basic information on the judicial system and NGOs, analysis of certain ways of engagement of NGOs with achievements and challenges, descriptions of good practice projects and successful organizations working in the field of cooperation of NGOs and judiciary.

We believe that all activates that we will tackle in reports play vital role in shaping civil society, strengthening rule of law and democracy. Firstly, citizens and NGOs control the judiciary via various forms of monitoring. Secondly, by getting involved in trials and educational projects, NGOs empower the judiciary, help with building professional capacity of judges and support activity of courts. During the project we want to discuss various forms of cooperation and interaction and focus specially on civic monitoring.

We are glad to cooperate on the project with following partners from Visegrad countries: CEELI Institute (Chech Republic), VIS IURIS (Slovakia), and following partners from Western Balkan countries: Albanian Helsinki Committee (Albania), Coalition of Civil Associations “All for fair trials” (Macedonia), Lawyers' Committee for Human Rights – YUCOM (Serbia).

The project is funded by International Visegrad Fund and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea
